Case Study: Novartis

Overview

When Swiss pharmaceutical giant, Novartis, signed a contract to build in Holly Springs, they required a structured cabling systems contractor to add design functionality into their bid specifications.

Objective

The customer tasked the structured cabling systems contractor to aide in the preliminary design, establish connectivity requirements and perform construction. Experienced in working with other trades, providing AutoCAD documents and certified installation practices assisted in Premiere being selected as the contractor to perform the critical tasks in an environment designed to develop flu vaccines.

Solution

The Premiere team is designing, engineering and is in the process of installing physical connections to support the Novartis network, telecommunications, building and process automation, security and A/V cabling systems.
Outside Plant - Siemon LightSystem® fiber connectivity for security
Horizontal and Backbone - Siemon System 6® Copper Solution with a 25-year warranty. This included 1,500 Category 6 cables. Siemon LightSystem® fiber for the backbone consisted of 24-strand 50/125 μm multimode fiber and 24-strand single-mode fiber to 13 IDF rooms.
Building and Process Automation System- Siemon System 6® Copper Solution with a 25-year warranty and Siemon Category 5e ScTP Copper Solution with a 25-year warranty.

Moving Forward

Working to design the Telecommunications' drawings and incorporating them into the MEP specifications, Premiere is proving its ability to offer pre-construction design to the generic and proprietary cabling solutions offered to clients in markets with stringent industry regulations like Novartis.
