Case Study: Fidelity
Overview
One of the world's largest providers of financial services, Fidelity Investments, planned to add a Data Center to their presence in North Carolina. They needed a massive cabling infrastructure and a structured cabling systems contractor experienced in this vertical market.
Objectives
Fidelity's investment transactions depended on superior infrastructure engineering, installation and management. In 2003, Fidelity moved to Raleigh and Premiere was selected to cable 2 existing facilities after an interview process of five local structured cabling systems contractors.
Premiere took on cabling the Credit Suisse Data Center earlier in 2007 and Fidelity noticed the standards-based installation, the existing relationship Premiere had with the General Contractor and awarded the project after an estimate was provided to the RFP.
Solution
Fidelity, Inc. has added OSP, copper and fiber to the Data Center. Premiere estimated and installed MaxCell Flexible Fabric Innerduct, SYSTIMAX® Category 6 UTP, Commscope Twisted Pair Backbone Cable, Corning 50/125 μm OM3 fiber in 12, 36, 48, 72 and 96-strands. Premiere's technical staff installed B-Line Cabinets per TIA-942 Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers hot and cold isle template.
Results
Premiere continues its deployment of quality structured cabling systems with Ortronics components and Berk-Tek cabling at the Data Center site. Premiere's engineering documents the new installations with AutoCAD drawings. Premiere's technicians are on-site to assist Fidelity IT personnel with critical physical layer connectivity decisions. Premiere established its relationship with Fidelity Investments early and has worked under direct supervision with the client on these projects.
