Overview

Merck has been in the Treyburn Corporate Park in Durham since 2003. In 2008, they began construction on their Virus Manufacturing Facility. Prior to that, Merck had turned to Premiere for quality structured cabling systems installation for these projects:

• MMSF - Materials and Maintenance Storage Facility
• EC - Energy Center
• VMF101 - Vaccine Manufacturing Facility 1
• OSF - Operation Support Center

Objectives

To ensure continuity, adhere to FDA regulations and maintain the system warranty, Merck selected Premiere to cable the VMF expansion including a 3-story building; 2 used as manufacturing space.

Solution

Building on a solid relationship with the client, our staff answered the RFP to include unit pricing, a project plan and schedule, staff resumes and certifications, manufacturer certifications and associated warranty programs and experience in delivering the following:
Inside Building Cabling Infrastructure, Pathways, and Spaces - including construction of a Site Communication Room, 8 Communication Support Rooms and a Server Room all connected with high-count multimode and single-mode fiber. Installed and certified over 1,200 Category 5e horizontal cables.

Data Systems - Installation of Cisco and Nortel network equipment in support of GMP, nGMP, and Delta V Networks.

Results

Premiere installed a Certified Siemon Category 5e structured cabling system and supplied network equipment as part of a comprehensive physical layer solution. Premiere established its relationship with Merck early and has worked under direct supervision with the client on this project.
